January 1 - March 31; billed in late March

 

A deposit of the minimum billing is collected on the first utility bill. The deposit is applied to your final bill upon moving out, if it happens to leave a credit on your account, a cheque is issued to you.

Radio frequency meters gives the Municipality ability to read urban meters from outside your home as they drive down the street.


 Radio frequency meters gives the Municipality ability to read water meters from outside your home as they drive down the road.

July 1 - September 30; billed in late September

Any customer wishing to have billing disconnected due to vacancy of premises shall be required to have service disconnected and to pay $35.00 reconnection fee when service resumes

October 1 - December 31; billed in late December

Any service disconnected due to non-payment of account shall not be reconnected until all arrears, penalties and reconnection fee of $35.00 have been paid.

If your bill remains unpaid for 180 days (or two billing cycles), the amount in arrears past 180 days will be transferred to your tax roll. You receive a letter of notification before this happens.

 

Pursuant to section 252(2) of The Municipal Act, the amount of all outstanding charges for water and sewer service may be collected by the municipality in the same manner as a tax may be collected or enforced under this Act.

Pursuant to Section 252(2) of the Municipal Act, the amount of all outstanding charges for water services are a lien and charge upon the land serviced, and shall be collected in the same manner in which ordinary taxes upon the land are collectible, and with like remedies.

 

The third letter that you will receive for arrears on your account, will notify you that your water will be shut off in 24 hours. The water will not be turned back on until the account is paid in full, along with the $35 (urban) or $50 (rural) fee.
