Health Gilbert Plains, MB

Gilbert Plains offers excellent and personalized health care services. The modern Gilbert Plains Health Centre includes a personal care home and a medical clinic. The Personal Care Home includes 29 permanent beds and one respite bed, and offers activity programs, Adult Day Program, Community Bath Program and Meals on Wheels. Care home residents can also access occupational therapy and dietician services.

In the medical clinic, the Public Health Nurse is available every Wednesday and the Dauphin Medical Group offers clinic services 3 days a week which includes doctors' services. Lab and X-ray services are also available by appointment.

Police, Fire and Ambulance

All emergency services are available to community residents through the 911 system. There is an RCMP detachment located 15 km away in Grandview.

A fully-equipped volunteer Fire Department and volunteer Ambulance Service serve the town and rural municipality.

Seniors Housing

There are three seniors housing units in Gilbert Plains, Sunset Lodge, Burrows Lodge and the new G.P Place, a 55+ seniors housing complex with 10 life-lease units, heated car parkade, common room and caretaking included.

Schools

Daycare services and a nursery school operate out of the Gilbert Plains Elementary School.

Gilbert Plains Elementary SchoolThe Elementary School ranges from Kindergarten to Grade 8, and includes a gymnasium, mult-purpose room, computer facilities and a library.

Gilbert Plains CollegiateThe Gilbert Plains Collegiate includes Senior 1 to 4. The school has an active extra-curricular program, including volleyball, basketball, badminton, track and field, curling and golf. Students can also participate in student council and yearbook.

Library

The Gilbert Plains Library is part of the Parkland Regional Library System, which holds 124,000 books in 18 branches. While there are approximately 4,500 books at one time in the Gilbert Plains branch, most of these are rotated four times throughout the year with over 14,000 books passing through the branch.

Library users also have access to libraries at the universities, and to libraries throughout the province and the country. The local collection also includes magazines, talking books and video blocs. In addition, the Gilbert Plains Library has two computers with Internet connection available for public use.
